With so many road accidents and deaths occurring due to drivers using their mobile phone, I believe many lives can be saved by the compulsory fitting and installation of a computerised 'Vehicle chip' onto (or close to) the steering wheel.
Then with a simple Sim card update, every mobile phone could be made inoperable while in close proximity to these Vehicle chips; Rendering it impossible for the driver of the vehicle to use their mobile phone while the vehicle is switched on and or in motion, unless it is connected directly into a separate 'hands free unit'.
In very small cars the radius of the vehicle chip's 'silent zone' (inoperable area) may mean that a passenger in the adjacent front seat may also need to use a 'hands free unit' to be able to receive or make calls; but that is perhaps a small inconvenience when considering the numbers hurt in RTA's on account of an unexpected or innocent phone call.
Please drive carefully and refrain from using a mobile phone when your hands should be holding the steering wheel. Thank you.
